When it comes to finding something classic, elegant, and distinctly Colombian, there is one brand that stands out among the rest - Touché. Founded in Medellin, Colombia, in 1987, as a lingerie brand, Touché has evolved over the years to encompass swimwear, lingerie, and outerwear for women and a collection of swim and resortwear for men and boys. With each collection, they manage to exude a sense of sophistication and comfort, setting themselves apart from the fast fashion trends that dominate the market today.
In addition to being a customer, I also had the privilege of working with Touché about a decade ago when I owned and ran a lingerie and swimwear store. During that time, I had the opportunity to visit their factory and showroom in Medellin, and what I witnessed left a lasting impression.
One striking aspect was the seamless integration of the various teams within the company. The seamstresses worked side by side with the marketing and accounting teams on the same floor. This collaborative environment fostered a sense of unity and camaraderie among the employees, and it was evident that they took pride in their work.
What surprised me even more was the presence of a massage therapist on the factory floor. Touché recognized the importance of their employees' well-being and happiness and actively promoted it through small but meaningful gestures like offering shoulder massages and reminding people to get off their chairs and move their bodies.
Touché's dedication to their workforce extends beyond providing a happy and healthy work environment. Today, more than 170 people, mostly women and heads of households, work in their production plant. They comply with WRAP (Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production) standards, ensuring decent working conditions and fair treatment for all employees.
Moreover, Touché is making strides towards a more environmentally conscious approach. They have taken significant steps to reduce their use of plastic in fabrics and day-to-day operations. The introduction of their ECO Garments line demonstrates their dedication to sustainability, using materials that are more environmentally friendly and responsible. This approach not only aligns with current consumer demands for eco-conscious products but also showcases Touché's commitment to creating a positive impact on the environment. We have marked ECO Garments like the vest below in the product descriptions.
